“Managing Smart Oilfield Assets and The Training Needs for Collaborative Decision Making”By Dr. Iraj Ershaghi
Abstract: The concept of i-field, e-field, intelligent energy or digital oilfields of the future started with the major oil companies. Now it is spreading to independent and national oil companies. Integration of information technologies and oil field asset management methods promise to make operations in hostile and complex environments, such as deep water, economically attractive, safe and practical. These technologies have the potential to boost ultimate recovery factors to well above 50-60%. These evolving technologies that are bringing smart integrated asset management concepts into reality will be examined. To maximize the successful implementation of these technologies, the rapid, effective training of the professional workforce is an essential ingredient. A roadmap for metamorphosis of the asset managers and personnel resources is presented. It demonstrates ways to facilitate the education and training of a new generation of high- tech geoscientists.
