SPE
2006 President - Eve Sprunt makes LA SPE Honor Roll Presentation |

Eve
Sprunt's address on the LASPE Honor Roll
The success of any volunteer organization depends on member participation.
During its illustrious history, the LA Basin Section of SPE has benefited
from the service of hundreds of members. It is my privilege to recognize
a few of them for their contributions. These honorees were nominated
by the general membership. They are a cross-section representing many
others whose selfless efforts have contributed to our success.
Unfortunately, not all are
here, but most are. As I call your name, please stand. Please hold your
applause until all have been recognized.
Clyde Barton- for
his many contributions to LASPE, SPE at the national and international
level and as SPE President.
Vivian Bust- for continuous service to LASPE as treasurer and
as Chairperson in 2000 when LASPE received the Presidents Award
for Section Excellence.
Richard Aseltine- for many years of providing continuing education
courses for professionals in this area.
Don Clarke- for initiating alliances between AAPG and SPE to
conduct joint regional meetings. And thanks to all who helped him.
Iraj Ershaghi- for helping many independent oil companies receive
DOE funds to improve their productivity and stay in business when oil
prices were low.
Randy Breintenbach and Hal Washburn- for giving old oilfields
in the LA Basin new life by founding Breitburn Energy. Thanks also to
other LA Basin Independent Producers for continued operations.
Scott Hara- for his untiring support of LASPE in the area of
community outreach and technical meetings.
Harry Krebs- for his long devoted and varied service to LASPE,
SPE at large, and for recruiting more than 200 new members.
Ed Mayer- for being a mainstay of LASPE activities serving SPE
at national and international levels and for helping to establish LASPEs
Petroleum Environmental Forum.
Sam Sarem- for wide ranging support of our activities as Chairperson,
General Chairman of the 2003 SPE Western Regional Meeting, for elementary
school outreach and for being a prolific recruiter of SPE members.
Herm Schaller- for serving local oil companies for more than
50 years with dependable production logging services.
Richard Stegemeier- a past SPE Distinguished Lecturer, for his
immense contributions to our society, industry and community.
Moose Thompson- for his contributions to the development of the
THUMS Long Beach Unit Agreement that brought new revenues to the State,
City of Long Beach, and provided employment to industry professionals.
Marina Voskanian- for service to LASPE and national SPE in various
capacities including LASPE membership chair, and recruiting many new
members.
Alan Spivak- for establishing and conducting, with Ed Mayer,
for many years, a Petroleum Environmental Forum to educate area producers
about environmental issues.
These are a few of the many
who have contributed to the success of LASPE.
There are many more who enjoy supporting our society as volunteers for
community outreach, our newsletter, scholarship activities and the charity
golf tournament.
Please join me in giving our honorees and all they represent a hearty
round of applause.
