PXP
Plains Exploration & Production Company
An exciting and challenging opportunities currently exist at growth oriented Plains Exploration & Production Company (PXP) in Los Angeles, California area for the below listed positions. PXP is an independent oil & gas company primarily engaged in the upstream activities of acquiring, exploiting, developing, and producing oil & gas in its core areas of operation: onshore and offshore California, Texas, and the Gulf Coast region of the United States.
CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES
PRODUCTION ENGINEER
Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of engineering work for production field. Conducts engineering studies, evaluates feasibility and economics of proposed projects. Additionally, resolves existing or potential production problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Artificial lift optimization and monitoring (primarily sucker rod pumps)
- Research, AFE, and indirectly supervise artificial lift repair, workovers and well simulations
- Perform analysis of wells to maximize production
- Manage waterflood performance
- Prepare stimulation workovers (fracture stimulation, acid work, sand control, etc.)
- Prepare completion procedures for new wells
- Monitor lease operating expenses, as well as AFE expenditures to insure maximum results for dollars spent
- Prepare annual production and expenditure forecasts
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
- B.S. Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering required.
- MSc Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- EIT and Professional Engineering Registration encouraged.
- 7+ years work experience in production or reservoir engineering applications in the oil & gas industry.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Oilfield Manager.
- Waterflood experience preferred.
- Knowledge of fracture stimulation, acid work and sand control.
- Knowledge of artificial lift methods.
- Able to carry out relatively complex tasks and assignments independently.
- Must maintain programs and services under his/her direction within budget, ensure deliverables are submitted on-time and ensure all programs and tasks are completed within governmental and contractual requirements.
- Requires limited supervision; generally works independently but can function effectively in a team environment as well.
- General familiarity with Company safety policy.
- Requires use of PPE when working in field locations
