Dear LA Basin SPE
Members,
I would like to draw your attention to key upcoming SPE events. I sincerely hope that all of you can participate.
I wanted to remind everyone first of all that the Western Regional Meeting on May 8 – 10 is approaching rapidly This is a unique opportunity to visit the Far North of Alaska. This conference has the SPE as a co-sponsor with the AAPG and so offers a technical program with a nice mixture of both petroleum engineering and geology.
The regularly scheduled lunch meeting for the month of May is scheduled for Tuesday the 9th at the Petroleum Club in Long Beach. Please come and learn about the challenges of operating in environmentally sensitive basin, particularly in California, from Marina Voskanian. She is the Chief of Planning and Development with the California State Lands Commission (CSLC) who directs the lease management and administration for extracting oil, gas, geothermal and other minerals from state-owned or controlled lands.
Also, be sure to mark down on your calendar Friday, May 19 for the LA Basin sponsored golf tournament. Space is filling quickly, so make your reservations now. As always, this promises to be a fun day for golfers and non-golfers alike. This is the major fund raising event for our Section and we are hoping for a large turn out.
Finally, be sure to check out the job board if you have any interest in job opportunities in our industry. This section features a larger than ever number of postings.
Sincerely,
Pat Shuler
Chairperson, SPE Los Angeles Basin Section
