Dear LA Basin SPE
Members,
I would like to draw your attention to some key upcoming SPE events. I sincerely hope that all of you can participate in one or more of these activities.
The next regularly scheduled forum is on April 11 and will feature a most relevant presentation for our local section. Frank Komin, President and General Manager of THUMS Long Beach Company will discuss the challenges facing the Long Beach Unit and planned operational activity for 2006 and beyond.
Later in the month, on April 29th there will be the Student Paper Contest being held at Stanford University. This annual event provides a unique experience where students in our Region have the special opportunity to present their work and have it peer-reviewed immediately.
I also wanted to remind everyone that the Western Regional Meeting on May 8 – 10 is approaching rapidly. Besides having a robust technical program, this meeting affords an opportunity to visit Alaska, indeed a special place.
Finally, be sure to mark down on your calendar Friday, May 19 for the LA Basin sponsored golf tournament. Space is filling quickly, so make your reservations now. As always, this promises to be a fun day for golfers and non-golfers alike.
Sincerely,
Pat Shuler
Chairperson, SPE Los Angeles Basin Section
