View from the chair. . . Dear LA Basin SPE Members, Here is wishing everyone a Happy New Year.  May everyone have a healthy and prosperous 2006!  As we end the holiday season and start a new year, we can reflect on the many things we have to be grateful for and look ahead with much optimism. This is also a time we can reflect on those people who have made significant contributions of their time and talents to the oil industry and the SPE Society.  There are a number of awards for technical achievement and service to the SPE where nominations for worthy candidates are sought.  This includes awards pertaining to the whole Society and SPE awards specific for the Western Region.  Members are encouraged to learn more about these awards and submit nominations.  More information about this program to recognize such members is in this newsletter and at the local and main SPE web sites.      Please do e-mail suggestions about what we can do to make our section improve their experience as a SPE member.
