Chairperson's message for January 2008

Dear fellow SPE members,
Happy New Year! 2008 should be an incredible year for everyone. LASPE will continue to provide interesting and meaningful forum sessions. The year is starting off with an interesting talk by Glenn Swanson, Vice President, Operations for Linn Western’s California properties. Glenn will be discussing the improvements to production on the Brea-Olinda field.
I would like to congratulate our 2007-2008 LASPE Vice Chair, Jalal Torabzadeh, and Secretary, Rick Reeves on being elected to the board. Jalal Torabzadeh is a committed member and contributor to the section through his work in membership, as Student Chapter Liaison, and as Chair of Technology Transfer. Rick Reeves held several officer positions with SPE at his former alum. Both individuals are great additions to the board.
The 2008 LASPE Charity Golf Tournament will take place on Friday, May 16th at the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, California. This event is one of the most important events for LASPE. It provides the majority of our operating budget each year. Mike Filbey will be heading the committee for the golf tournament. He is looking for volunteers for May 16th. If you would like to volunteer or if you are interested in receiving a flyer and have not participated in the golf tournament in the past, please contact Mike at 562-624-3526. Flyers will be going out soon.
